Boat Tours

Belfast has always been, first and foremost, a maritime city. It began as ‘the crossing of the mouth of the Farset’, Beal Feirste in Irish, which gave the city its name. The waterfront was the engine of the extraordinary wealth and industry that saw Belfast transformed from a small town to a mighty city of over 450,000 people by the beginning of the 20th century. Dedicated to excellence the Harland and Wolff shipyard grew from small beginnings and built a succession of ever more luxurious and larger ships, until the launch of RMS Titanic in 1912, where it would become the greatest shipbuilder in the world, and Belfast one of the world’s most important ports.

The drama that was the tragic sinking of the Titanic, on her maiden voyage has grown into a story of epic proportions and captivated generations since. Drawing visitors from all walks of life and all corners of the globe the mesmerising story begins in Belfast where tours will take enthusiast by boat across and around the lough and through the shipyard to the dock and pump house where the great ship was built and launched.
