Smart and Stylish Bars

Apartment The newer generation of Belfast bars are definitely smart and stylish in the trend of most cosmopolitan cities and yet there is something distinctly and uniquely Belfast about the approach. Bars are sophisticated, but there is a warmth in the use of natural building and decorating materials, And then there is of course the warmth of the people, both behind the bar counter and in front.

We have a number of unique hotel bars that stand alone in reputation, style and patronage. Check out The Bar at The Merchant, an elegant, discreet cocktail bar where champagne and Sevruga caviar is not out of place or drop into the Bar @ Malmaison; dark and sumptuous it has an excellent wine list. Bar 12 at the Crescent Townhouse is an oak panelled, imaginative Gothic style bar with a trendy following.

Then there are the independent bars where cocktails and espresso are equally at home on the same table with champagne, bars such as the spectacular Café Vaudeville in Arthur Street. Perhaps you want to relax and people watch on Donegall Square and around City Hall then look no further than the ultra smart Apartment; and if wine is your thing then suss out The Chelsea Wine Bar on the Lisburn Road, its Belfast’s only true wine bar. The coolest place on the river is Cutters River Grill a trendy grill and bar with riverside tables but get there early! If you’ve been sightseeing around the centre of town and your batteries are flagging then head for Franklin Street to Bar Bacca a true sanctuary in the city.
