Be inspired by this enchanting garden's dazzling array of exotic species from the four corners of the globe. Created in the mid 1860s by the Reverend John Moore, this informal plantsman's garden reflects the beautiful natural landscape of the surrounding area. There are spectacular displays of shrubs, superb spring bulbs and several areas managed as wildflower meadows. Summer provides a rush of herbaceous colour whilst fabulous autumnal colour abounds during the months from September to December. The garden is a great place for long walks in winter, in cool, crisp air, as plants and shrubs lie dormant anticipating the arrival of spring.
It is also home to a notable natural Rock Garden Wood with shade-loving plants. The outstanding Walled Garden includes the colourful National Collection of Penstemons. Past popular events at Rowallane Gardens have included an easter trail, plant fairs, craft fairs, workshops and musical events.
Guided tours are by arrangement. Farmland and woodland walks as well as a tree trail walk are also available.
