Tall Ships: Parade of Sail

The Parade of Sail will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 16 August. The ships will start getting ready on dock from 12 noon – the Parade of Sail will then start from the fairway buoy at approximately 12.30pm.

A flotilla of Ships will leave Belfast in all their splendour marking the end of the Belfast Maritime Festival 2009. The best viewing will be along the County Down and County Antrim coastlines.

Newtownabbey

Newtownabbey will host a Shoreline Festival; Fun for all the family, featuring live music, children’s activities, food and crafts.

Carrickfergus


Carrickfergus Council would like to welcome young and old to the Borough during the Parade of Sail weekend. Carrickfergus’ newly landscaped promenade will of course be available with uninterrupted views across the Lough.

Annual Flower Show, Saturday 15 August 1.30pm at Memorial Hall, North Street Presbyterian Church

Carrickfergus Garden Society’s annual flower show returns for 2009 featuring sections for flowers, fruit, vegetables, floral art, home industries, and handicraft. Organized by Carrickfergus Garden Society and sponsored by Carrickfergus Borough Council.

Sunday Summer Band Concert, Sunday 16 August 3pm-4pm at Castle Green.

Sample the sounds of the summer courtesy of CWA Brass Band. Should the weather be inclement the event will continue at Carrickfergus Museum & Civic Centre, Antrim Street.

Tall Ship Sail Past at Seapark, Holywood
Seapark Recreation Grounds in Holywood makes for a perfect spot to watch the tall ships of the Atlantic Challenge sail by into Belfast Lough. Keep the whole family amused between 11am-6pm as the ships sail by with beach volleyball, live music from The Illegals, a U105 Roadshow, a funfair for the little one’s to enjoy and food to keep hunger pangs at bay.
