PCO Guidelines

Guidelines for PCO Category Membership updated 2009

 

Belfast Convention Bureau promotional activities are aimed at generating new conference and incentive business for Belfast and BVCB members from our key segments in the national and international marketplace.

To be listed as a PCO within the membership of Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau organisers should meet the following criteria:

  • Be a member of at least one of the following:

-ABPCO (The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers)

-AIPCO (The Association of Irish Professional Conference Organisers)

-IAPCO (The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers)

-Or another professional body that is recognised at the discretion of the Bureau.

  • Be engaged principally as a company or division of a company in the organisation of all services required for the preparation and running of conferences and meetings.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years as a proprietor, partner or director of a conference organising business or attached to a professional or trade Association, Educational Institution, Official Body or corporation.
  • Have a minimum of 3 fulltime members of staff engaged in organising and managing conferences
  • Be engaged in the entire organisation of minimum of 5 conferences, each with an attendance of 100 out-of-state delegates, an associated trade exhibition and lasting at least 2 days.

(Please list event details and conference organising services provided by your organisation on separate sheet.)

  • Be committed to the development of Belfast and Northern Ireland as a national and international destination.
  • If not based in Northern Ireland, the PCO must demonstrate how they would bring new conference business into Belfast.

If an organiser meets some but not all of the criteria, then the listing will be under Conference Support Services as an Event Management Company.
